rhythm’s gonna getya

I have a thing on my desk at work to hold pages up. It’s green and has sparkly silicone sugar inside and is creatively called a ‘page up’. You might have one of your own. It is great for exciting typing projects. I have four smaller ones, which are cute but useless. The offspring don’t have the little grains of plastic inside which means their weight distribution is all off. They come with a sticky foot, but the slightest breeze from a closing cupboard and over they go, exciting typing project and all.

Only mummy has the grunt to keep my pages up. It’s the sparkly sand that is the key to her success.

It is also good for something else. Sometimes I pick up my dalek-shaped page stabiliser and it fits perfectly in my hand and I shake it, which is kind of meditative. I try to shake it musically without anyone noticing. I relax my wrist and cock my shoulder to allow for a good rhythm. It induces a sly half smile at my monitor, back-up style. I don’t think anyone has noticed yet.

You do know that you're eventually going to kill the Dallek mummy by shaking her dont you. The question I have is, what are you feeding the baby dalleks so they grow up to big strong sparkly document holders? And, is that Daleks like in Dr Who?

yes, is there any other type?

granted, I have no knowledge of Dr Who, but they resemble little dalek robot things to me.

The only thing I feed her is the rhythm of my soul, and that's never killed anyone yet, to my knowledge...

Actually, I was listening to the rhythm of your soul the other day and it sort of sounded like Guy Sebastian... my guess is that it's killed it's fair share of people.

There's also Dallek office furniture, so I had to ask, you know, in case you were planning on trying to take over the universe with a matching office set and document holder. Which although funny to watch probably would only result in a resounding boom as the local airforce carried out its pre-emptive strike.
